Welcome! I admire your vulnerability - It takes deep courage and strength to ask for help and acknowledge that at times we cannot do it alone. I am glad you are here, as change and growth starts from within you.

My name is Deborah. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and fourth-year doctoral student. I completed my doctoral internship at UT Southwestern Medical Center and have done extensive work with couples and families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have training and experience with children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral problems in the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient setting.

My passion lies in helping couples caught in a vicious cycle to find healing and connection again. It is not about “good” or “bad” partner, but the attachment injuries couples experience and the negative dance that they get caught in that hinders belonging and security between partners. These attachment injuries and wounds leave couples feeling hurt, alone, fearful, and disconnected, paralyzing the growth of the relationship.

Intentional care and maturation of your relationship with your partner is imperative for the relationship to be meaningful and long-lasting. When you acquire deep connection and safety with your significant other, it is easier to overcome life stressors. We need connection with our loved one like the air we breathe.

With the divorce rates for those entering second or subsequent marriages are profoundly greater (60-67%) than those in first marriages, I am devoted to offering premarital counseling to couples who are remarrying. I carry a strong focus on high conflict couples and families, divorce/remarriage, blended families and stepfamilies, stepparent issues, co-parenting and parenting, infidelity, children and adolescent depression, anxiety, and suicide.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which provides depth in my ability to help couples just like you who are experiencing disconnection, isolation, hopelessness, or who are on completely different pages establish secure attachment, hope, and that spark again!

My deep appreciation and excitement for working with families is inevitable; with three little ones at home, I know how unique each family member can be and that every family has a unique story to tell.

Even if your parents, kids, or partner are displaying “symptoms” that feel difficult for you to navigate or understand, you can make small and powerful changes that could impact your family or relationship system. Change is always possible. Family of origin is necessary to understand as it colors who we are and our worldview. Much of my work has been with parent- child dyads and families with adult millennial kids.

My hope is that this process may be a rich and raw growing experience that allows you to feel safe and validated, inspire depth in your relationship with others, and able to become the most desired version of yourself. I will collaboratively work with you to provide the support, insight, and tools you need. If you allow yourself to be seen and trust in the therapeutic process, you may see authentic beauty unfold in your life and your relationships with others.

I look forward to creating meaningful shifts with you!

I am also fluent in Korean and am happy to integrate this into our work together if you need.
